People of Vietnam

People of Vietnam

Nowhere has inspired me to pick up my camera like Vietnam has. Not only is the culture beautiful, colourful and fascinating, but Vietnamese people are also incredibly friendly and in my experience, many love having their photo taken!

Since moving abroad, I've been pushed myself to take photographs that make me nervous, which usually means capturing pictures of people. This can mean asking for permission, which is sometimes just a simple smile and point to my camera. It can also mean learning words in the native language like "beautiful," so I can interact with people who's photo I want to take. Above all, it's about having the confidence to point my camera and to just go shoot.

I'm no expert, but it's a progress! Here are my favourite pictures of people taken in Vietnam this past year.

One of my goals for 2018 is to get more serious about photography. I plan to invest in better editing software, and venture into shooting RAW. I also want to shoot and post daily. Here's to creative goals for this year! Do you have any?
